This is Jake, a six year old Bi colored German Shepherd. He's most likely been an outside penned dog for the majority of his life with little training, although he has come a long way and has transitioned well to indoor life. Jake likes to think that he is an alpha dog with a moderate energy level. When Jake entered the rescue, he was heartworm positive, but has completely recovered with flying colors.  Jake has a great disposition as he is very playful, intelligent and curious.  He gets along well with his older foster fur sibling but tends to want to be the center of attention. He's not been around cats that we know of but will chase and bark at them if he sees one, or they happen to wander in the yard. He is very food motivated and gets really excited at feeding time and love treats. Jake has been working on his manners and learning the rules of being in the house. Sitting, waiting and shaking before eating. Sitting & waiting to go out and come in from outside and loading in the truck, and some basic obedience training. Jake is now fully housebroken and crate trained, although he doesn't need to be crated.  Jake would do best with a family that will develop his unlimited potential. Jake has not been around small children but is a loving dog that does not jump on people or chew on hands.  Jake loves to go for walks but needs to learn not to pull on his leash.  Jake likes playing with and tearing fuzz off of tennis balls, chewing on large hard bones or Nylabones and will floss his teeth with a pull rope. Jake will also need a fenced yard so he doesn't get out and take himself for a walk. Jake would do best with a submissive male or female dog or as the only dog in the house with people who are willing to help him realize his full potential. Jake is being fostered in Fayetteville, NC. Please contact your adoption coordinator if you think you are a good fit for Jake.
